November 2015 – Permit issued and it’s starting to look like a construction site!
Week 1 – Demo of drywall, wiring – fills up dumpster, silt fence in place – ready for excavation
Week 2 – Busy week of demo, tree trimming and excavation, and front porch comes down
Week 3 – Digging footings, adding re-bar, pouring concrete, and even more demo
Weeks 4 & 5 – Block walls in back, block delivered for front porch, and more interior demo
December 2015 – Slab, Framing, Raining, Framing, Raining, Framing . . .
Weeks 1 & 2 – Slab poured, Basement demo, and lumber delivered
Week 3 – Framing takes off
Week 4 – Framing continues, but here comes the rain
Week 5 – More work during and after the rain
January 2016 – Mechanical rough installation begins, and even more demo between rainstorms
Week 1 – Demo fireplace, new framing, demo brick, new sheathing
Week 2 – Mechanical Rough for Plumbing and HVAC begin, more demo inside
Week 2 – Special Edition – Creating the Bargeboards
Week 2 – Special Edition – Building the Brackets
Week 3 – Windows arrive, mechanicals continue, exterior trim ready to put up – and then it snows!
Week 4 – Housewrap on, Windows in, Brackets mounted, Bargeboards up . . . busy week
February 2016 –
Week 1 – Temporary doors installed, shingling all done, and back to removing old brick
Week 2 – Final brick demo, about to enter the lull before the storm
Weeks 3 & 4 – Taking a break to get caught up on paperwork and quotes and budget – see you in March!
March 2016 –
Weeks 1 & 2 – Final drywall demo, then pond building, foundation mucking, and dampproofing
Week 3 – Block below grade, beginning siding, and installing foundation drain pipe
Week 4 – Choosing the brick, upper siding goes on, and looking at cabinets
Week 5 – Rough electrical wraps up, framing the Front Porch, and interior punch-list items
April 2016 –
Week 1 – Front Porch roof framing and decking, new brick is here and eyebrow roof framing
Week 2 – Eyebrow roof framed, Back Porch roofs done and cutting more brick for chimney
Week 3 – Back Porch roofs framed, Basement furring started, and the last of the brick cut for the chimney
Week 4 – Sound and fire-block insulation
May 2016 –
Week 1 – Framing inspection passed, sound and foamboard insulation
Week 2 – Spray-foam insulation, final insulation/drywall demo, more sound insulation
Week 3 – Exterior insulation, Front Porch floor framing, and final sound insulation before drywall goes in
Week 4 – Masons are back, corbels and Basement foamboard insulation
June 2016 –
Week 1 – Drywall installed, and finished up the brick details
Week 2 – Making Cast-Stone caps & modifying front bargeboards
Week 3 – Drywall finishing, setting cast-stone, front bargeboards, grading & cleaning
Week 4 – Grading, materials delivered, preparing for next week
Week 5 – Subfloor in, hardwood flooring in, columns in, interior trim and metal roof begun, backfilling and foundation drain! Whew . . .
July 2016 –
Week 1 – More trim, wainscoting, stairs, pocket doors, and some outside stuff too
Week 2 – Front Porch – hangers, landscape fabric, pea gravel, a flood! – then placing joists
Week 3 – HVAC, Chimney, Silt clean-up and silt fence, foundation drain
Week 4 – Selections, miscellaneous stuff and working out in the heat . . . again
August 2016 –
Week 1 – Scheduling, removing crossties, and other small projects
Week 2 – Driveway demo, major sitework & trenching, & misc. items
Week 3 – Drain pipes, new driveway, linoleum floor, and new cabinets
Week 4 – Interior trim continues, more drain pipes and the last Crepe Myrtle
September 2016 –
Week 1 – Tile begins, heated floor, driveway paver prep, drains covered
Week 2 – Interior trim, built-ins and caulking to get ready for priming – and still moving some dirt around.
Week 3 – Hardwoods, more brick, painting, stain at stairs, & even more grading
Week 4 – Retaining wall, piers, painting, & the Koi pond begins
Week 5 (Part 1) – Painting, retaining wall at deck, and more on the pond
Week 5 (Part 2) – Garage doors, retaining wall at drive, back deck, & countertops installed
October 2016 –
Week 1 (Part 1) – Back deck, painting, pond, & light fixtures
Week 1 (Part 2) – Pavers, staining and pond stuff
Week 2 – Interior built-ins, doors, tile, lights, and Exterior front porch, pavers, gutters and pond
Week 3 – Interior – trim, built-ins, electrical, plumbing, tile, appliances, and then Exterior – railings, back deck, brick pavers, sunken patio and more stone for the pond
Week 4 – All outside this week – deck, railings, sunken patio, forming the pond & stream & waterfall, and finally some plants
November 2016 –
Week 1 – Trim & built-ins, fireplace & backsplash tile, plumbing & lights, railings, stream & pond
Week 2 – Outside – pond liner, stonework and sunken patio, and Inside – more trim, built-ins and hardware
Week 3 – Interior – hardware, security, appliances, staining, and then Exterior – pond update, clean-up, old fence demo & new fence install, & exterior doors
Week 4 – Back outside working on fences, patio, ditch, plants, deck steps & doors, and then inside on carpet, bath accessories and final wood finishes.
